Anvers
2012 The Giant Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
The strictly limited release features artwork on the label from one of Belgium’s finest artists, Willem Dolphyn. The coming together of this fine art and wine, is a combination of the old and the new worlds, a marrying of the past with the present to create this special release. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have, bringing it all together.
Anvers ‘The Giant’ is produced from 5th generation Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon vines located in the region of Langhorne Creek, Australia. The vineyard was managed for quality and the resultant grapes were small, dark and concentrated. The Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were fermented separately in open concrete fermenters and then pressed to barrel at dryness. The two wines were aged in 80% new French oak and 20% two year old French oak hogsheads for 12 months, then the final blend was selected, the wine blended and put back to oak for a further six months to integrate. The final blend is 67% Shiraz, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon. This powerful wine was then bottle aged for a further six years before release. This classic Australian blend shows a rich abundance of dark fruits with some cassis notes and dark chocolate characters cased in a rich yet velvety palate.
